Budapest Airport – WizzAir hangar
TECHNICAL CONTENT
This hangar for aircraft maintenance was constructed on the site of Budapest International Airport with an area of 2000 m2. The purpose was to create an ideal environment for the continuous maintenance of WizzAir’s aircraft.
IMPLEMENTING
The most important aim when creating the building was to ensure functionality. That drove us during designing a system of a 40-metre span steel structured framework, a huge motorised sectioned gate that suits special aircrafts as well, and a special foam extinguishing system installed due to the extreme fire hazard.
CURIOSITIES
During the implementation, special attention was required due to the strict safety regulations of the airport, both during works and in relation to the technical solutions. Besides, as the hangar is close to runway 1, aviation safety also had to be respected, which further increased the complexity of the project.
